The name “Kathaa” holds deep significance for us. In hindi, “Kathaa” means story, and we firmly believe that every saree has a tale to tell. Each thread represents the story of the weaver who skill-fully crafted it, the region that nurtured it’s creation, and the indigenous techniques used to bring it to life.

As they say: “All roads lead to Rome”, our founder, Atrayee, has a journey that has led to “Kathaa”. Connecting the dots in hindsight, “Kathaa” seems like a prophecy waiting to be fulfilled.
Atrayee’s passion for fashion, styling and impeccable understanding of aesthetics was nurtured during her graduation in Fashion communication from SID, Pune. Her career as a fashion stylist saw her working with numerous MNCs and innovative start-up brands. Through her work, she had the privilege of styling several celebrities and models for ad films, print shoots & fashion magazines.
It was during this time that Atrayee’s love for clothing, especially sarees, and her deep respect for local artisans came to the forefront, culminating in the birth of Kathaa.
